Did you know that theology drove missions interest in the 1800s? For people like William Carey, passion wasn’t enough to sustain them in missions. Instead, they had a strong and deep understanding of sound theology. Carey knew that God was using people to accomplish his sovereign plan and sought to live a crazy and dangerous life only because his assurance was in the hands of a loving, all-knowing and ever present God.

It is unfortunate when people say that studying theology kills your passion for God’s service. We can all cite many examples of people getting so puffed up with knowledge that they stop being servants but historically this argument isn’t true.

3. Give you the words to express what the Gospel is
