But amen, Will. Everyone is deserved of and needs prayer.

All people need prayer, and in light of the suffering that has occurred in North Korea, they and the people in charge there need it as much as anyone. Prayer for wise leadership, whether it is the guy thrust into power to love his people the way his father's propaganda advertised, or to step aside and let a whole different leadership spring up. You're right! We all need prayer. The people of North Korea need our prayer, and the man who looks like he'll end up in charge is no exception.

As a person who spends large chunks of the day reading and writing, this is a great reminder. Indeed, the Word of God itself requires literacy (since we are not an oral culture). Thanks for the post!

Hi David,
I stumbled on to your blog, and appreciate your brief pithy reasons for being in ministry. I wonder if you've heard of or even attended a conference called China Challenge, an annual gathering of 200-300 that connects the needs of China with people in North America who are involved in or interested in China-focused Christian ministry. I ask because there is one coming up in Los Angeles in late October that you might find valuable. If so, or you would like more information, drop me an email.
Blessings,
Jon Moore

Hi DJ,
Thanks for reading the blog. The random groupings are mostly for the slacks and polo shirts for work... if I had a different job, I would probably not own more than half of those items. I decided to group them to make it easier for me to not show up at work wearing the same clothes everyday.

And I agree with you that the number is pretty arbitrary but the challenge is more of the idea to simplify. I actually need to update my list as I am down to about 92-94 items for the past few weeks.

Good luck on your challenge and let me know how things turn out!

This is great and all but why the random groupings of 2 shirts or 2 pants? Just to fit in under 100 items? It kind of illustrates how arbitrary the number is, but hey at least you've eliminated a lot of crap that others (like me) haven't (yet). I don't think I'd ever get down that low unless I was moving overseas or something but it's definitely something to aspire to. I'm planning my own 100 things challenge--to get rid of 100 things, then keep doing it regularly. And not bringing in any more new things until I get rid of old things.
