What the Royal Wedding Means for Missions

It’s easy to forget how connected the world is. I am not just talking about the internet or technology. I am talking about the ways in which our economies, our cultures and peoples are connected. When the Royal Wedding happened this last week, billions tuned into watch. I don’t think it was just curiosity; it was because what happens in England really does effect the rest of us.

We are all at risk for tunnel vision. We can easily get so caught in our day to day that we forget that the world isn’t our school/job and our circle of friends. I hope that events like the Royal Wedding remind us that we are called to be a testimony to the world. Billions watched the wedding because people from every culture want to be excited about something outside of themselves. They want to see majesty. I think God has created in the hearts of people everywhere a desire to long for the true King. I hope that we can show them that it is in Jesus.

Maybe, it’s not so much getting tunnel vision in our daily lives, than it is about not letting God into our daily lives. Our school/job and circle of friends are very much apart of God’s kingdom as we see the church or the mission field, or rather it’s the church going into the places that we work at or go to school at, and the mission field as our school, work place and among our friends. We can desire for the true King, to be revealed in our daily lives, and even something as silly as the Royal Wedding, that God will show himself.
