Alexis Hithe is a Visual Arts (Media) major at the University of California, San Diego. Combining her creative skills and passion for social justice, her work explores themes like time, memory, relationships, and identity. Growing up in the lower-middle class of southern California’s high desert has influenced her conflicted desire to change the world and enjoy the world at the same time.
A photo was taken of me with my sign, which had a message directed towards the Asian American students at UCSD. I didn’t know then how much this message would resonate with people, both in the Asian American and Black communities — until I woke up the next morning and saw this photo was being shared by thousands of people on social media.
