Christine J. Hong is assistant professor of education ministries at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia and a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Her interests include de-colonial approaches to religious and inter-religious education, Asian American spiritualities, and the spiritual formation of adolescents among communities of color. She received her doctorate at Claremont School of Theology.
Patriarchy exists and even thrives in Korean American and Korean immigrant churches. Hopefully, this isn’t news to most of us. As for me, I was excited and full of naïve bravado when I entered into ministry in that context.
